When each of us chose to join our local body of Christ, known as Brown Corners Church, we each made a pledge to follow certain callings. Following is one small section of those callings. You will note that one of them is diligence in prayer.
CHAPTER 4
111 Christian Disciplines
Membership Standards
Every member shall attend to the ordinances of the church–namely, baptism (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38) and the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-29); shall be diligent in prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and the study of God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15). Further, it is the responsibility of all members of the church to serve with time and talent, and to contribute to the financial interests of the church in proportion to their ability, as God has prospered them.
So how you may ask am I going to connect the call to pray unceasingly for one another with Breeze, the database of our membership. We are family, in fact we are eternally family. Our spiritual bond as brothers and sisters in Christ is meant to be stronger and deeper than the physical bonds we share as an earthly family. I know of no family that hopes to be able to intimately share with one another that doesn’t maintain constant contact with those members of the family. Our church family is contacted and therefore connected by Breeze. When the information contained in Breeze is incorrect, out of date, or incomplete our ability to share is impacted. As a relatively new member to this congregation I still very much need to be able to see who it is I am praying for, emailing, etc. Our Breeze database is in a word a mess. Over the next couple weeks the membership, and then the faithful attenders will be receiving a copy of their profile. I am asking each and everyone that receives their profile to review it, mark it up and return it to us. Also I am asking that you take the time to either send a photo, email a photo, or go to Breeze and insert it yourselves. We are committed to increasing all forms of communication across our church family, please help us.
Also, if you have not answered that call upon our lives to pray for one another I invite you again to go to the link provided and sign up. We cannot know the prayer needs of our brothers and sisters at BCC without being informed.
Lastly why do we ask this? John 17:21 Paraphrased heavily: So that we may all be one, just as the Father and Christ are one, and that we may be one with them, for this is our witness to a lost a dying world.
