Last week I introduced our prayer chain as a ministry at BCC. As part of the post I stated that we all share in the call to pray for one another. “We have the call in Galatians 6:2 to bear one another’s burdens, and in so doing we uphold or fulfill the law of Christ. Also, in Romans 12:15 we find the call to, rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”
There are many gifts which God and the Holy Spirit have uniquely equipped each and every one of us. Those gifts are meant to make the church whole so that each and every good work might be completed. Prayer is not one of those gifts. Is prayer a gift, of course, but it is granted to each of us, and each is to be using that gift. The very moment that you accepted Jesus Christ as Savior two things happened.
- The throne room of God was thrown open that you might have full access. Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.
- You were equipped. Ephesians 4:7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. The measure of Christ’s gift is complete and boundless, and by his grace available to each one of us.
Last week I also shared that, “We have a great prayer team at BCC. My hope and prayer is that it might grow to become the unifying vehicle that sharing in one anothers rejoicing and weeping may bring. So that the world may see and know our message is true.” As that is my hope and prayer, this week I am asking each and every member of BCC that happens upon this post to join that ministry. You are called, you are equipped, and it is part of your witness. If you click the link below you will be taken to a very short form that once completed will allow me to add you to the BCC prayer chain. May God richly bless our body as we submit to his desires for his church.
